Power, Purpose, Persistence: A Clarion Call for the Next Generation Written By Kebe Ikpi
There is a profound joy in witnessing a vision not only conceived but sustained with unwavering commitment. In a world where many initiatives flicker and fade, The Bridge Leadership Foundation (TBLF), under the visionary stewardship of its founder, Senator Liyel Imoke, stands as a beacon of consistency and excellence. As we approach the 16th Career Day Conference, scheduled for Saturday, 11th July 2026, my heart is filled with gratitude for a platform that has faithfully bridged the gap between potential and reality for over a decade and a half.
The theme for this year's gathering—"Power, Purpose, Persistence: Youth Leading Change for The Next 15 Years" (and more) — is not merely a slogan; it is a prophetic declaration. It speaks directly to the future and calls out it's architects - the youth. We are not merely waiting for change; we are empowered to lead it. The call to "Power" reminds us of individual potential endowment for impact; "Purpose" aligns us with the divine intent for our lives; and "Persistence" is the key to unlocking the promises of a brighter and better future in the face of challenges. As we look toward the next 15 years (and more), TBLF is positioning the youth not just as participants in the economy, but as architects of the future.
The Career Day vision resonates deeply with the words of the late global icon, Nelson Mandela, who famously declared: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Indeed, the Career Day Conference is precisely that—a strategic deployment of knowledge, mentorship, and opportunity to arm young people with the tools they need to transform their communities and nations. When youth are equipped with the right information and godly direction, they become an unstoppable force for good.
Another quote that resonates deeply with this year’s theme also from Nelson Mandela: “There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” This reminds us that true power emerges when purpose fuels persistent action.
Reflecting on the journey so far, one cannot help but marvel at the strategic progression of themes that have marked this flagship event.
Looking back at the 15th Career Day in 2025, the theme "New Horizons: Bridging the Youth Employability Gap" was timely and practical. It addressed the immediate need for skills and opportunities, acknowledging the economic realities while offering tangible bridges to employment. It was a season of opening doors.
Before that, the 13th Conference carried the theme "Future Ready: Skills, Choices & Career Readiness." This was a call to preparation, emphasizing that tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. It instilled a culture of foresight and deliberate choice-making in young minds, aligning perfectly with the biblical principle of numbering our days to gain a heart of wisdom.
Going further back to the foundational years, specifically the 8th Conference in 2016, the theme "Building Tomorrow's Entrepreneurs" showcased Senator Imoke's foresight. At a time when job seeking was the norm, TBLF was already championing job creation, instilling the spirit of enterprise and innovation in young people long before it became a global buzzword.
From building entrepreneurs to ensuring future readiness, bridging employability gaps, and now activating power and purpose for long-term change, the trajectory is clear. TBLF is not just hosting events; it is raising a generation of leaders who understand their identity and authority.
I commend Senator Liyel Imoke for this rare consistency. In a landscape of fleeting trends, your dedication to the youth of Cross River and Nigeria at large is a testament to a life yielded to God's purpose. You have shown that when a vision is of God, it endures.
Whether you are a student seeking direction, a young professional aiming to pivot, or a mentor ready to give back, this event promises masterclasses, inspiring speakers, exhibitions, and networking opportunities that can ignite real change. I invite you to be part of this historic gathering. Mark your calendars for Saturday, 11th July 2026. Do not miss this opportunity to be equipped, inspired, and connected. The Bridge Leadership Foundation Career Day is where your next breakthrough awaits.
Let us come together to celebrate excellence, to learn, and to rise. The future is not just coming; it is already here, and it is in our hands.
See you at the 2026 Career Day!
